Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has voiced his concern for Tottenham Hotspur amid their troubles in recent weeks.

Spurs went unbeaten through their first seven games of the campaign before falling to a 2-0 defeat in Europe against Sporting CP.

They did manage to regroup, however, but back-to-back defeats domestically and a controversial draw in the Champions League in midweek has left their season in limbo.

Antonio Conte’s side find themselves five points off rivals Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table having played a game more and are in need of a result in Marseille to advance from the group stage in UEFA’s elite competition.

Their immediate attention is now on Bournemouth and Merson has expressed his concern for the club as he wrote in his column for Sportskeeda the former Arsenal player said:

‘Tottenham haven’t had a great week. They were a goal away from virtually qualifying for the knock-outs in the Champions League. They were well beaten by Newcastle and Manchester United, and they couldn’t win against Sporting Lisbon at home.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry Kane got a hat-trick against Bournemouth. That’s Tottenham at the moment, and it’s quite worrying.’

TIF Thoughts on Merson’s comments…

Are you worried with Spurs' form?

Yes

No

No

Given the gulf between the two clubs, you would expect Tottenham to get the better of Bournemouth and we think they will.

However, the Lilywhites have failed to score from open play in four of their last five games away from home and that must be addressed.

Harry Kane is the only man to score for the club on their travels since Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg did at Stamford Bridge in August.

As Merson pointed out Kane could well be the man to fire them to victory at the Vitality Stadium just like he thought he had on Wednesday night but either way, a win is a must for the north London club who have won just three of their last eight in all competitions.
