Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Antonio Conte will be looking to bring further players to Tottenham in January.

The Italian coach has already made an indelible mark on the side since he joined the club last Autumn.

He let five players depart in his first transfer window and brought in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

This summer the club spend over £100m on seven signings with Destiny Udogie arriving at the end of the season.

A further nine names were let go either permanently or on loan by the club but Gold insists that the incomings and outgoings won’t stop there as Conte looks to put together a squad to compete on all fronts.

Speaking on his YouTube channel Gold said:

(55:10)” So he’s questioned the squad once again ahead of the January transfer window which I know it’s going to bring movement.

“Because of the World Cup all clubs are going to be making their moves and Spurs will be because like I’ve said Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga will head out if not others as well so you never know.

“Replacements have to come in and Conte will be demanding of course he will.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Should Spurs sign Maddison in January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Considering it was a surprise to see Daniel Levy stretch his purse strings that far in the summer it would certainly raise eyebrows if he was to dip into the market once again when it reopens.

However, given the layout of this campaign it could as Gold alluded to force many clubs to act in the winter window.

A glaring omission from the Spurs line-up is a creative playmaker who has the ability to unlock the opposition defence.

While the Lilywhites are the third highest scoring team in the Premier League, 13 of their 19 goals have come against bottom-five teams.

They have only created 11 big chances, placing them eighth in the division in that regard and having been linked with a move for James Maddison in the summer Levy could be tempted to splash out on the Leicester City maestro sooner than he would like.
