Journalist Dean Jones believes that Southampton will have a replacement in line should Ralph Hasenhuttl be sacked.

Following a £60m outlay in the summer, the pressure has been well and truly piled on the Saints boss.

His side slipped into the bottom three over the weekend having won just two of their first nine league games, and remained there after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

However, if the club were to make a change in the dugout, Jones is of the impression that Sport Republic will have carefully considered their options, insisting that the owners don’t tend to make rash decisions.

He told GiveMeSport“If Southampton are going to get rid of him they will have a succession plan in place, I’m convinced by that. This is a club that does not react instinctively and I think this tough period will have given them time to carefully consider their shortlist for what would come next and who would genuinely be interested.”

The Telegraph recently reported that the Austrian coach was very close to the chopping block, however, the manager himself has remained unmoved by the speculation surrounding his potential sacking.

MailOnline has claimed that former RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco is being considered should the club decide to send Hasenhuttl packing.

Manchester City assistant manager Enzo Maresca is also thought to be in contention and we could well see a new face on the St Mary’s touchline sooner rather than later given the latest string of results.
