Andrew Musgrove believes that a fresh article to appear on Newcastle United’s official website about Miguel Almiron hints at how highly Eddie Howe rates the attacker.

Over the last few days and in the build-up to Newcastle’s first game after the international break, the club posted an in-depth article from WyAyeScout’s Kev Lawson about Almiron and how he has been changed into an attacking right-winger under Eddie Howe.

The article analysed several pieces of data and was brandished on the homepage as soon as supporters went onto the club’s website – and despite just one goal all season, Musgrove thinks this article may have a deeper meaning.

Musgrove has admitted on the Everything is Black and White podcast he believes this article just goes to show how much Howe rates and persists with Almiron.

Should Almiron start vs Fulham?

“I find that quite interesting that they’ve put that actually now firmly on the Club website because that is a massive hint as to how much Eddie Howe likes Miguel Almiron because you’re not going to put that front and centre of the website if you’re not that big of a fan of Miggy.”

TIF Thoughts on Almiron…

While Almiron has an obvious weakness in his game which is a good end product having scored just 10 goals in the league and registered just three assists since making his debut under Rafael Benitez back in 2019, he makes up for that through his off-the-ball work.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Almiron currently ranks third when it comes to pressures and is top by 15 when it comes to pressures in the final third (FBRef), which just goes to show how hard he works for the team despite his lack of goals and assists.

Many fans may be questioning why Howe keeps persisting with Almiron, but his tireless work and energy are simply too good to ignore, especially if Newcastle are wanting to press the opposition during games, which is certainly true as no other team has pressured the opposition more times in the final third than the Magpies (FBRef).
