Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that he isn’t sure whether Donny van de Beek will be at Manchester United until the end of the season.
Ever since his £40m arrival back in 2020 van de Beek has struggled to establish himself in the side and injury this season hasn’t helped.
The Netherlands international played just 19 minutes of Premier League action prior to sustaining an injury.
The midfielder has been limited to just 53 appearances during his time at Old Trafford with an average of just 35 minutes per outing.
Now Romano has told The United Stand that he could well be allowed to leave in January.
He said: (16:23)” Honestly I think the situation is really open for Donny van de Beek. I’m not sure that he’s staying with Manchester United until the end of the season because it depends on the opportunities.
“As you mentioned his injury so it’s difficult to discuss game-time because he wants to play, it’s important for him to play to show his skills finally for a manager like Erik ten Hag who trusts him but being injured is a big problem of course.
“I can tell you that Manchester United received some approaches at the end of the market in August by English clubs asking about Donny and the answer was very clear they said Donny is staying here. They decided to keep Donny and consider him as an important part of the team.
“Let’s see what happens in January because he wants to play.”

It suggested that a number of Premier League clubs were interested as well as Eredivisie duo PSV and his former club Ajax.
It appears that the 19-cap Netherlands ace wouldn’t be short of suitors should he look to find regular first-team football elsewhere and Erik ten Hag could well be willing to let the 25-year-old go.
