Leeds United fell to a disappointing defeat on their travels in the Premier League in midweek.

Following back-to-back defeats and without a win in six league games, Jesse Marsch’s side went to the King Power Stadium in search for a much-needed three points.

However, after a promising start a Robin Koch own goal, with Harvey Barnes waiting to pounce, saw them fall behind before Barnes did indeed get on the scoresheet before half-time.

Patrick Bamford once again led the line for the Whites before coming off on 65 minutes but having recently been called a “million miles off it” by Gabby Agbonlahor, the strike once again came in for criticism cutting a lone figure in the east Midlands.

Journalist Beren Cross tweeted:

Not good. Pockets of promise, but ultimately Leeds are 2-0 down and looking exposed every other attack Leicester have. Bamford’s anonymous and wingers aren’t seeing enough of the ball. Aaronson and Adams carrying the team on their shoulders. The hosts are not a good side.’

TIF Thoughts on Bamford and Leeds…

Is Bamford good enough for Leeds?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Last season the 29-year-old suffered horrendously with injury and having played just over 800 minutes of Premier League football since the start of last season he is still working his back to full fitness.

He made his fourth start of the campaign against Leicester but did struggle with all honesty.

According to SofaScore he managed just 21 touches as the Foxes’ Wout Faes marshalled the centre-forward particularly well.

After scoring 17 goals and assisting a further eight in Leeds’ first campaign, Bamford seemed well-equipped to compete at this level but for the time being, he does indeed seem at least a yard off it.
