Leicester City: Journalist claims Thomas Frank and Sean Dyche in frame to replace Brendan Rodgers

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on The Done Deal Show that Sean Dyche could well replace Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

It has been a pretty disastrous start to the season for Rodgers and Leicester, with the Foxes yet to win in the Premier League, and in turn, they find themselves rooted to the foot of the table, raising questions over the Northern Irishman’s future.

Rodgers has previously led the Foxes to FA Cup and Community Shield success, but they appear to be nothing but distant memories now, and the 49-year-old could soon be replaced if results don’t turn around.

Jacobs now believes that former Burnley manager Dyche could well be a name in the frame if or when Rodgers is relieved of his duties.

He said: “When you look at who could replace Brendan Rodgers, Thomas Frank is the name that they have allocated as a manager that they really like at Leicester, and Sean Dyche will be another name that is bound to come up in the conversation as well.

“But it won’t be easy to persuade a manager to join Leicester in the current climate, aside from the fact that there is a good long-term strategy there.”

While Rodgers is saying the right things about speaking to the club’s owners and how he is still the man to lead them out of this sticky position, results don’t lie – and a loss on Monday night in a derby could be the final nail in the coffin.

Rodgers will be looking at Monday’s game and thinking that Nottingham Forest have lost their last four games, ahead of their trip to the King Power Stadium, so this could be the perfect way to kickstart their season against a Midlands rival.

Leicester’s owner will be watching on carefully and assess the situation with Rodgers, as they can ill-afford a drop into the Championship with some of the high-profile players they have on their books and a multi-million-pound academy, so someone such as Dyche – who did wonders at Burnley on the whole – could be the man to save them.
