Leeds United have “probably got as good a chance as anyone” of convincing Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine international Mykhaylo Mudryk to join the Premier League side.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest transfer news from Elland Road.

Mudryk has been regarded as one of the hottest properties in Europe over the past few weeks, following his dazzling displays against both RB Leipzig and Celtic in the Champions League this month.

According to iNews, both Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in securing the 21-year-old Ukraine international’s signature, with Shakhtar placing a £50m price tag on his head.

And according to 90min, Leeds had scouts watching the youngster in Ukraine’s 3-0 Nations League defeat at Hampden Park against Scotland last week, alongside representatives from more than half of the Premier League.

Jones believes that Leeds are as well placed as anyone else in the league to convince the Shakhtar star to make the move to Elland Road in an upcoming transfer window.

“Leeds have probably got as good a chance as anyone of convincing him that it’s a good place for him to land and show everybody what he’s capable of in the Premier League.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We believe that Marsch’s side are well placed to secure Mudryk’s signature if they are prepared to meet the Ukrainian club’s price tag, with the wide man knowing he is likely to get regular playing time if he is to make the move to Elland Road.

And Marsch would likely be delighted if they could bring the “serious talent”, as dubbed by Darijo Srna, to the Yorkshire side in the near future, with the Krasnograd-born star scoring two goals and providing three assists in five Shakhtar appearances so far this season.

Therefore, we believe that Victor Orta should be plotting as to how to get ahead of the rest of the pack in securing Mudryk’s signature, when he becomes available.
