Leeds United are looking at a deal for teenage full-back Jack Wylie as they continue their search for young talent.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from Elland Road.

According to Football Insider, sources have told the media outlet that Leeds have now joined Arsenal in their interest for the Rangers defender.

The same report says that the 15-year-old is not able to sign professional terms until he turns 16 in January, which could enable English clubs to circle the youngster.

And O’Rourke says a move for Wylie “just sums up what Leeds are doing” in terms of youth recruitment.

He said: “Probably just sums up what Leeds are doing.

“They are looking at young talent all across the country and all over the world as well, and Wylie is just one of a number of names that the club are keeping tabs on.

“He’s got the potential to be a top young player, Wylie, if he continues his progress.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We agree with O’Rourke and believe that the signing of Wylie would indeed fit in with the club’s philosophy of signing potential talent for their youth team, with Sonny Perkins and Wilfried Gnonto arriving from West Ham United and FC Zürich respectively this summer.

The youth academy star is very highly thought of by the Glasgow giants, with Rangers sporting director Scott Wilson stating that the youngster is making “excellent progress” in his development.

Therefore, we think that Leeds should be looking to secure the signing of Wylie from under the noses of Arsenal in case the Scotsman turns out to be one of the league’s leading full-backs in the future.
