The media has blasted Leeds United’s Luis Sinisterra for his latest performance and red card at Elland Road.

Prior to Sinisterra being handed his marching orders by Stuart Atwell, the referee had handed out five yellow cards, obviously including one to the Colombian international, with three of them being handed to Leeds players.

While some may have complaints over the nature of Sinisterra’s performance, the fact that he needlessly blocked an Aston Villa free kick that appeared to be going nowhere quickly, can’t be excused and will have left Jesse Marsch frustrated.

National media certainly didn’t hold back in their views on Sinisterra and the poor decision he made to get himself sent off.

John Brewin of The Guardian said ‘He wafted his leg in front of the resultant free-kick. Petulant, daft, no need, and Coach Marsch has his head in his hands. Stuart Attwell had no choice. Those are the rules. Silly boy.’

Did Sinisterra deserve to be sent off?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Beren Cross didn’t hold back either labelling Sinisterra as ‘daft’ as he tweeted out ‘You’re right. Daft from Sinisterra, but the circumstances of it all just stem from Attwell’s overall performance and first-half yellow.’

Keith Smith took a different approach as he claimed that ‘Sinisterra needs to be smarter there, but the first yellow was weak. This ref has no control of this game.’

Finally, Gregg Evans went in on Sinisterra for his silly second bookable offence and said: ‘Second yellow card for blocking an #AVFC free-kick. So stupid.’

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

TIF Thoughts on Sinisterra’s performance…

It was simply madness from Sinisterra to block a nothing free kick which was not going to trouble Leeds in the slightest and in turn, led to the Whites experiencing a troubling rest of the game for Marsch’s side.

The Whites will have been angered by Sinisterra leaving the pitch early, but also because he has been making a stunning start to life in a Leeds shirt with four goal involvements in just six appearances since joining in the summer.
