The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Leeds correspondent Joe Donnohue has praised Leeds United youngster Harvey Sutcliffe for his performance in the U21’s recent Premier League 2 clash.

Donnohue was rating the players after the side’s 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.

Sutcliffe, who has also been described as “excellent” by Donnohue, signed a professional deal with Leeds in July of this year, agreeing a two-year contract to keep him at Elland Road until the summer of 2024.

The full-back had already played 11 times for the U23 side in the Premier League 2 last season, adding a couple of EFL Trophy appearances and nine U18 showings to that list.

And Donnohue thinks that Sutcliffe shone on against Sunderland on Monday evening amid a number of impressive displays this season, giving the academy product a 9/10 rating.

He wrote: “One of his best displays and there have been a few recently. Combined nicely alongside Gnonto on the left. Handled Man United loanee Amad Diallo with aplomb, didn’t give him a yard.”

TIF Thoughts on Donnohue’s comments…

We believe that there is a lot of talent to be excited about coming through the club’s youth academy, including Wilfried Gnonto, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, but Sutcliffe’s recent performances have ranked him firmly alongside his fellow teammates.

The 19-year-old has made five appearances in all competitions so far this season and has provided two assists in that time, with the side being victorious in every game he has competed in, according to Transfermarkt.

Therefore, we think that Leeds fans will be delighted to hear about Sutcliffe’s promising performances, and a potential bow in the first team could be on the cards if he keeps up these impressive displays.
