Leeds United fans saw BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton send out a sarcastic tweet in their direction on Saturday night following their trip to Anfield.

It was a night to remember for all those involved at Leeds on Merseyside after they sealed a stunning 2-1 victory against Liverpool thanks to Crysencio Summerville’s late winner.

The Whites went into the game on the back of an eight-game run without a win, which had the pressure ramped up surrounding Jesse Marsch’s spot in the Elland Road dugout.

But the American remained confident as the Leeds board continued to back him to turn their poor form around:

Marsch said last week: “The players have been great and I know it hasn’t been easy for them or us, but we believe in them. We believe in them. I have to find ways to help them get better. The board and I are unified completely.”

Leeds United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Alan Smith

Leeds certainly showed up on Merseyside and fought till the end despite only having 31% of possession throughout the game, but Sutton was quick to take aim at the Leeds faithful after they clinched the points.

Sutton tweeted: “Are Leeds fans singing for Bielsa tonight?”

TIF Thoughts on Sutton’s comments…

We think this was a rather unnecessary post from Sutton on the back of such a memorable night for the Leeds fans, with the tweet having no other purpose but to stoke a reaction from the fans.

Do you still want Marsch sacked?

Yes

No

Leeds were on a dreadful run before the game, so it is only natural some of their fans will have been calling for Marsch to be sacked – after all, they had only won twice before the game on Saturday.

As good a result as it was, it is now essential the Whites are able to back it up this weekend with three points against a Bournemouth side who are now on a run of bad form themselves.

And if Leeds do fail to claim all three points against the Cherries, we do wonder how the fans will react.
