BT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand has praised Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze for his role in the club’s most recent win.
The Eagles managed to pick up all three points in front of their own fans at Selhurst Park this week as they claimed a 2-1 win in the Premier League, despite initially falling one goal behind.
Indeed, Adama Traore nodded Wolves into the lead before halftime but Eze responded with his own header after the break before Wilfried Zaha went on to seal the win.
It seems as though the Palace 24-year-old caught the eye with his role in the game, with Ferdinand signing the praises of Eze while speaking on his own YouTube channel.
Indeed, he said (21:28): “What did I say at they were the beginning of the season when they asked me who’s going to be the best young player this year? Eze, was my shout.
“And they are saying he might be in the 55-man prelim squad for the World Cup. This kid the truth. I love him. I love him.”
With an average Sofascore rating of 7.22 so far this season, it’s not hard to see why Eze has been earning the plaudits. Certainly, his goals and assists have helped fire Palace up into tenth in the league, with 13 points after ten games.
The Englishman now has two goals in his last three games, while he also has a further two assists in ten Premier League games this term (via Transfermarkt).
What’s more, as alluded to by Ferdinand, his fine form has put him in without an outside shot at going to the Qatar World Cup. Indeed, according to the Daily Mail, Eze is set to be named in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary England squad made up of 55 players.
That certainly would be a huge achievement for the 24-year-old who is yet to make his international debut.
