Dan Bardell has claimed on The Villa View podcast that Unai Emery will be looking to get backed financially by the Aston Villa board.

Villa fans will be excited to see their new manager in the dugout but will have to wait until next week as he can’t take charge until November 1st due to work permit issues and rules, although that could give Emery more time to analyse his squad.

Emery will only have two league games to make a mark on his Villa side before a lot of players jet off to Qatar for the first-ever winter World Cup and then it won’t be long until some players could be replaced as the January transfer window comes around.

Bardell believes that’s exactly what Emery will be looking to do, bring in his own players to change the Villa squad.

(11:50) “We need a manager that improves players I think from what you’ve just said, he could come in and improve players that are already there without having to bring his own players in, he’ll want to bring his own players, of course, every manager does.

Will Emery be a success at Villa?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“There’s a couple of players at Villa that have worked with him before is what I’m going to assume, Chambers definitely has, I’m going to assume, I know Emiliano Martinez spent a lot of time on loan but they must have crossed paths at some point.”

TIF Thoughts on Emery’s appointment…

Given the honours that Emery has won during his time as a manager, mainly on the continent, it’s an extremely exciting appointment that Villa have made, and he has a great foundation to build upon considering they won their last home game 4-0.

The fact that Bardell believes Emery will want to bring in his own players quite quickly won’t be a problem for Villa or their owners given they are the fifth wealthiest in the entire Premier League, which is why they have likely gone for an ambitious appointment in Emery as they dream of European nights back at Villa Park.
