Journalist Josh Bunting has slammed Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins for his ‘shambolic’ display for the club in their most recent game.
In the Premier League this weekend, the Villans travelled to Elland Road as they faced a tough match against Leeds United which ended all square.
Indeed, despite the home side having to play most of the second half with just 10 men after Luis Sinisterra was sent off for picking up two yellow cards, the Villa attackers couldn’t make the breakthrough.
It seems as though Bunting saw Watkins as the main culprit in this disappointing display from the Aston Villa forward line, as he singled the Englishman out for criticism on Twitter.
The journalist wrote: “Aston Villa in the final third, very poor, Ollie Watkins has been shambolic. The ball has bounced off him, hold-up play not good enough at all and he’s been wasteful. His passing has been wayward as well, have lacked a real cutting edge yet again. Against 10 men and still nothing.”

TIF Thoughts on Ollie Watkins and Aston Villa…
Seeing as Watkins, who got a 6/10 for his performance, could not make the breakthrough for Villa despite having a man advantage against Leeds, it would be fair to suggest he failed with his job on the day. And when you look at the stats, they do back that claim up.
Indeed, according to SofaScore, the striker missed a whopping three big chances. On top of that, he also lost the ball 11 times, completed just 56% of his passes and was caught offside twice.
With just one goal in nine outings across all competitions so far this season, Watkins has started the campaign rather slowly, and with Villa struggling down towards the bottom of the table, they could really do with their key forward finding some form soon.
In this game, however, he was clearly far from his best.
