Injury expert Ben Dinnery has expressed his concern over the fitness of Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.

The right-back has just recovered from a hamstring injury he sustained back in September.

Cash has played in each of the last two games for Steven Gerrard who will travel to take on Fulham this Thursday evening.

It will come after four days on from the 2-0 loss to Chelsea while the Villans will once again be in action on Sunday when they host Brentford.

Amid the congested schedule, Dinnery has speculated whether or not the Poland international will need a rest in that period.

Speaking on the Premier FPL Injuries YouTube channel he said:

(6:30)”Had this game been a little bit of a quicker turnaround, of course, this one’s played on Thursday night, then maybe there may have been question marks over Matty Cash he’s just returning off that hamstring issue.

“But because you have those days clear I’m fairly confident he will be around but maybe looking into gameweek 13 that’s something that we have to follow Steven Gerrard for. See if he comes through those 90 minutes and then maybe is he a consideration for like I say playing that third game within the space of that week might be a little bit too much of a risk.”

TIF Thoughts on Cash and Villa…

Is Matty Cash Aston Villa's best defender?

No

Last season the 25-year-old played more minutes (3,517) in all competitions than any other player at the club, even surpassing that of goalkeeper Emi Martinez in second (3,330).

Cash weighed in with four goals and three assists in the Premier League and managing his game-time is pivotal.

This term he ranks joint-first among Villa players for interceptions and third in terms of crosses per 90 minutes (WhoScored).

With Gerrard in need of perhaps two wins this week to save his job and he would like to be able to call upon his strongest possible line-up but it remains to be seen if Cash is able to meet the demands of three games in a week.
