Journalist Josh Bunting has praised Sunderland loanee Amad Diallo for his ‘bright’ performance in the club’s most recent match.
In the Championship this weekend, the Black Cats managed to claim an important 2-1 victory over Wigan at the Stadium of Light despite initially falling behind.
Indeed, Charlie Wyke put the away team in front, but goals from Elliot Embleton and Dennis Cirkin managed to turn the game in Sunderland’s favour and were ultimately enough to see them pick up all three points.
Whilst he didn’t score or get an assist, it seems as though the efforts of Diallo did not go unnoticed. Indeed, taking to Twitter after the game, Bunting expressed his excitement for the Manchester United youngster.
He said: “I really want Amad Diallo to work, not a player like him I’ve loved in a while. They say never fall for a loan player but I’m finding it hard with him. You can see the talent he has is exceptional, the quality is there, was so bright yesterday and, for me, he made a huge difference.”

TIF Thoughts on Amad Diallo and Sunderland…
Diallo joined on loan from the Red Devils for the season during the summer and has since played for Sunderland seven times in the Championship, but is yet to score or register an assist (via Transfermarkt).
Even so, he really seems to have impressed in this latest game. Indeed, aside from Bunting’s comments, his manager Tony Mowbray was also full of compliments after the win.
He claimed that it was probably ‘the best’ Diallo has played since arriving and highlighted his quality on the training ground as a reason to be particularly excited – so long as that can continue translating into his matchday performances.
Mowbray said (via Manchester Evening News): “I think that’s the best we’ve seen of him – listen, he’s got flashes, he’s a wonderful, wonderful footballer.
“On the training ground he’s so sharp, quick and clever with the ball – he just has to add the end product, for me. Every day I’m in his ear, so he knows, but the work ethic was good today, and the physicality he brought to the job was good and I was pleased for him.”
