Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to bring in a versatile player who can play in a number of key positions with Daniel James matching that criteia.

This is according to the insider Dean Jones who has been speaking on his Ranks FC podcast to discuss the Lilywhites’ plans on deadline day.

Antonio Conte’s men have now been strongly linked with the Leeds United ace with the Italian wanting a replacement lined up to allow Bryan Gil get his loan move to Valencia.

There have also been suggestions that Lucas Moura is the subject of interest coming from Aston Villa late on in the window which could certainly leave C0nte’s options stretched if he was to depart.

With reports surrounding the future of some of Spurs’ wingers, Jones believes Fabio Paratici feels the Leeds man could come in and address a lot of their needs:

“Dan James, I know he is really admired by Paratici, I know that sounds really weird and I don’t know where that exactly comes from, but Paratici thinks that Dan James is a good fit for what they’re looking for in a player, and primarily what they’re looking for is actually quite weird. It’s a right-wing-back who can also play up front, mainly off the left side.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

James is certainly a versatile player who was used in a number of different roles last season for the Yorkshire side with Patrick Bamford sidelined through injuries.

Would James be a better option than Lucas Moura?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, he has not necessarily shown any signs of providing the quality needed to play for a Champions League side with just four league goals to his name last season.

But it is also believed Spurs are not the only club interested in the Welshman with Everton and Fulham also said to be in the race late on in the window.

Leeds’ reported interest in Cody Gakpo is believed to have fallen through earlier this morning so we do wonder whether that will hinder Paratici’s desire to land James today.

  • Jay says:

We started off the window by going after Gvardiol and Bastoni and end up the window by going after Deadwood James..
that sort of thing is soul destroying for the supporters, even if it DOES give Man United a good old laugh!!!!!
