Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his YouTube channel about how excited people are at Tottenham Hotspur about Dane Scarlett.

The Spurs youngster clearly has talent and support from within the club at Tottenham given that he was handed his debut when he was just 16 years old, however, given Harry Kane is in the same position as him, chances are going to be, and have been, extremely limited.

That’s why he’s been shipped out on loan this season to League One outfit Portsmouth – and it appears to be a match made in heaven, with the striker having already registered five goal involvements in 10 games for Pompey, as well as manager Danny Cowley heaping words of praise onto the striker for his displays.

Gold has claimed that many people within the club are very excited by Scarlett and the potential he possesses.

He said: “Maybe that’s something to also look at – I wouldn’t imagine maybe so for Conte. Although Conte has bigged up Scarlett massively and said what a future he’s got. But I do wonder whether there’s also this feeling at Spurs of, do we want to put someone in to block the path of a Dane Scarlett?

“Like I say, I’m sure Conte doesn’t particularly care about that aspect, I’m sure he’s more about the now, but I wonder whether behind the scenes at the club, they’re thinking [if] Dane Scarlett just goes on this ridiculous scoring run – Danny Cowley thinks he’s going to score ridiculous amounts in this league this season – maybe he comes back and next season, he’s ready.

Will Scarlett eventually replace Kane?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Maybe he’s ready for something much bigger. He will be turning 19 by the time he comes back, who knows? Honestly, I don’t think people kind of understand just how exciting a player that Dane Scarlett is and just how good he is.”

TIF Thoughts on Scarlett’s future…

Considering that Scarlett and Kane are at very much opposite stages of their careers – the former just trying to make a name for himself and the latter looking to pick up some silverware before he reaches his twilight years – the youngster may well fancy his chances of being the heir to Kane at Spurs.

The young striker has torn things up at youth level, so it’s only natural he looks to make the step up to first-team football and make a name for himself within that level of the game – something he’s clearly doing in League One.

If Scarlett can prove his worth over a long season in the third tier, Antonio Conte may well take a more serious look at him next pre-season with some first-team minutes, and hopefully, a lot of goals under his belt.
