Tottenham Hotspur now have a big injury concern on their books with the defender Ben Davies having now picked up a knee issue in recent weeks.

This is according to Alasdair Gold who has been speaking on his latest YouTube video about the Welshman’s hairline fracture below his knee.

It was a torrid start to the week for the Lilywhites with their trip to Lisbon in the Champions League proving fruitless in a 2-0 defeat against Sporting CP.

To add to their misery, their Welsh centre-back picked up this injury in the European clash which will see him miss Wales’ upcoming international games.

And Gold has provided some further insight on the 29-year-old’s injury with the reliable Spurs journalist suggesting the Welshman has sustained a hairline fracture:

(55:30) “Ben Davies does have an injury at the moment. He’s got a little hairline fracture just under his knee, just kind of beneath his knee on his leg, which they hope will just be about three weeks, so maybe in time for the North London derby. So obviously he’s been withdrawn from Wales duty.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

This will certainly be a blow to Spurs with Davies having become a big factor in Antonio Conte’s XI over the course of the last 10 months with 35 appearances under the Italian (via Transfermarkt).

A huge game is upcoming for the Lilywhites after the international break in a trip to their local rivals Arsenal who currently top the league table.

Clement Lenglet will be the obvious replacement for Davies, however, he was hardly showered in praise on the weekend as Spurs conceded twice to the side at the bottom of the league.

However, the Frenchman will now have the international break at Hotspur Way to prepare for the North London derby having not received a call-up from Didier Deschamps.
