During an appearance on The Rangers Review, writer Derek Clark slammed Rangers forward Ryan Kent for his recent performances and being ‘off the boil’.

The Gers have recently been embarrassed twice this season, picking up back-to-back 4-0 defeats in the league and in their opening Champions League game.

This recent loss came at the hands of Dutch giants Ajax, who found themselves 3-0 up against Rangers in the first half. It is hard to find a player who had a good game in the defeat, and one of their star players was picked up by Clark.

Star forward Kent was labelled ‘off the boil’ by the journalist and claims that Rangers fans are starting to lose patience with their winger.

Clark told The Rangers Review: “He’s been off the boil for so long. I can’t remember the last time he had a real standout game, a game that we know he can have.

“He’s one of Rangers’ star men. He’s a player that is capable of turning the game on its head, producing a bit of magic, but fans are losing patience with Ryan Kent.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Kent…

Last season, Kent was one of Rangers’ best performers after he picked up three goals and 19 assists in all competitions, including 11 in the SPFL. However, when you look at this recent performance in midweek, it is easy to see why fans are starting to lose their patience.

According to SofaScore, the 25-year-old finished with a match rating of 6.5. This was after having just 27 touches throughout the entire game with no key passes, crosses or long balls. He also managed just one shot on target and one successful dribble attempt, while losing possession eight times.

Rangers are already five points behind Celtic in the league and are bottom of their Champions League group. If they have any hopes of challenging in either competition and having a good season, they need stars like Kent to start performing. Otherwise, we feel they should look to part ways and continue to rebuild under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
