Business of football journalist Dave Powell has claimed that Liverpool have the funds available to go and buy Jude Bellingham.

Despite the summer transfer window now being closed, rumours still seem to be lurking, with the Englishman being linked to the Premier League.

Indeed, trusted source Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that the Reds will go in for Bellingham in the future as he is a player Liverpool are ‘dreaming’ of signing.

While talking about the club’s financial situation on a Twitter video shared by Liverpool Echo, Powell was able to deliver some exciting news regarding the possibility of a transfer and the potential Financial Fair Play ramifications that such a deal could incur.

Indeed, he said: “If you are asking me the question if they could afford it to go out and sign Jude Bellingham, then yes, they could.

“They are a club that has more Financial Fair Play wriggle room than anyone in Europe, I’d argue, or most teams in Europe.”

TIF Thoughts on Jude Bellingham and Liverpool…

While the links to Bellingham certainly look to be concrete, Borussia Dortmund reportedly want a transfer fee of €120m (£105m) for their man, according to BILD (via ESPN).

With that in mind, it won’t be easy to land the top talent and there would be doubts over whether or not Liverpool could afford to smash their club-record transfer fee to land the youngster – which seems like the only way they’ll be able to sign Bellingham.

Indeed, there have been questions about Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and their willingness to splash the cash and help the Reds improve their midfield.

Following this latest update from Powell, however, it now seems as though they have no excuses. And so, they should be able to back Jurgen Klopp and bring in a big new signing like Bellingham soon if they wish to do so.
