Journalist Charles Watts has expressed his delight after revealing that Thomas Partey could be fit to play for Arsenal this weekend.

The midfielder has missed a number of games for the Gunners of late owing to injury. Indeed, thigh problems have kept him from featuring since the third Premier League game of the season.

However, in a fresh update on the situation, Partey now looks likely to play this weekend against Brentford as he has been back in training.

Indeed, while talking on his YouTube channel, Watts outlined what he knew about the player’s fitness status, explaining how ‘good’ the news was for Arsenal.

He said: “The good news is, as far as I’m aware, Thomas Partey is going to be available for this game against Brentford and Mikel Arteta is going to have to make a decision on it at the end of this week.

“But from what I understand, Thomas Partey returned to training – full training – towards the end of last week. He felt like he would have been available to play against Everton had it been on.

“But he’s had an extra week of training now, and so I can’t see why he wouldn’t be involved unless he has some sort of setback between now and the end of the week, obviously.

“But if everything goes to plan, and he stays fit, and he has another week’s training, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be involved against Brentford. So that’s good news for Arsenal.”

TIF Thoughts on Thomas Partey and Arsenal…

Partey is obviously an important player for Arsenal – as evidenced by him playing 90 minutes in each of the club’s first three league games of the season (of which they won all three). Therefore, this news will come as a big boost for the club.

Having seen their game against Everton called off last week, it would have been frustrating to many around the club, but at least it has afforded Partey some more time to work on his fitness.

This is especially relevant for the midfielder as there were disputed claims that he was previously rushed back early from injury by Mikel Arteta and that ended up keeping him out for even longer – though the Gunners boss did deny this being an issue.
