Arsenal: Insider suggests club may regret not signing Mykhaylo Mudryk

|

Arsenal may regret not signing Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine winger Mykhaylo Mudryk this summer, with more clubs expected to be competing for his signature next time around.

That is according to transfer expert Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from the Emirates Stadium following the closure of the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Gunners had already agreed personal terms with Mudryk on the penultimate day of the English transfer window, with Rudy Galetti stating that the north London side were hopeful of striking a £21m deal with Shakhtar for the winger’s services.

However, nothing materialised in the end, with the Premier League side passing up on the opportunity to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

And Jones, expecting the winger to be on the move, believes that Arsenal may live to regret that decision, with Mudryk likely to have more suitors in for him when the opportunity next comes around to sign the Ukrainian.

He said: “Arsenal are going to have more competition for him in any future window.

“So, we’ll have to wait and see whether it was a good decision or not to let the last window pass by.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think that Arsenal should really have made a move for Mudryk, who has been described as “unstoppable” by his own club for his performances, and may live to regret that decision if the Shakhtar star continues his impressive form until the January window.

In four appearances for the Premier Liga side this season, the five-time Ukraine international has scored one goal and provided three assists according to Transfermarkt, including an impressive performance in the Champions League at RB Leipzig.

Therefore, we think that Mudryk’s value will only increase from here on in, and if he keeps performing to a high level in the Champions League, a number of Europe’s top clubs may look to pick up the prodigious talent at the next available opportunity – so we can see why Jones fears the Gunners may have missed the boat on a top talent.
