Journalist Joshua Barrie has expressed his confusion over Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his cryptic injury update on Kemar Roofe.

With the international break now upon us, teams will be glad to have a little break in order to let some of their injured players have a little bit of extra time to regain their fitness.

On this topic, Van Bronckhorst was recently asked by the press about the status of some of his players but delivered a bit of an odd response when speaking about Roofe.

Indeed, he said (via Daily Record) “Kemar Roofe? We will have to see if he is one of the players who can come back really quick or if he maybe takes a longer time.”

While speaking about this quote on the Rangers Review podcast, Barrie repeated what the manager had said before adding (10:34): “I don’t really know what that means…”

TIF thoughts on Kemar Roofe and Rangers…

The 29-year-old has yet to play this season, but after he scored 16 goals in all competitions for Rangers last term, fans will no doubt be keen to see him back and playing soon.

Worryingly, though, this update from Van Bronckhorst hasn’t really added any clarity to his current injury situation. In fact, it’s not the first time his communication skills have left something to be desired in recent weeks.

Indeed, after losing to Ajax away from home in the Champions League, the manager was slammed for his defeatist quotes about his club not being able to compete at that level.

However, when looking at Roofe’s injury history (via Transfermarkt), he has suffered a few issues in recent seasons but nothing that serious and so hopefully he will be someone who can come back quickly from this recent setback.
