Former Celtic man, Peter Grant, recently praised the club during an appearance on Go Radio making a number of great signings which in turn has pleased the fan base after the balance sheets were revealed.

After a disappointing 20/21 season where they lost out on the Scottish Premier League title to their bitter rivals, the Bhoys have made a tremendous comeback and look set to win back-to-back top-flight titles this season.

After bringing in Australian manager Ange Postecoglou, the club have spent just shy of £50m in the last two seasons, bringing in huge players like Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, Reo Hatate, and Joe Hart to name a few.

Grant recently hailed the club for this hard work and claimed it will please the fans who spend their hard-earned cash on coming to the game and expect the team to be the best.

He said, “But I think for Celtic fans, they always thing they are only interested in is to see who you’re buying, who you’re selling. You know, there’s no interest in balance sheets anything like that, what we’re doing with the money, we’re bringing better quality players, and Celtic done that in the summer, taken a couple of loan signings and make them permanent.

“I think that’s important when you’re bringing the money in, because let’s be honest, it’s like everything else, supporters have their own cash and it’s not cheap to go to a game of football nowadays. So, they want to see it spent wisely.” (1:05)

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

TIF Thoughts on Grant’s comments…

Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom and as a result of this and the immense number of trophies they have won over the teats, it is not surprising the fans expect a high level of spending in the transfer window.

While they have splashed the cash, they have not gone overboard with their spending and have made a few shrewd moves including Jota for around £7m, Carter-Vickers for around £6, and Kyogo for £4.86m.

Celtic have been hugely impressive over the last few seasons and with their current squad, the fans can be happy and certain they are going to dominate the SPL for the foreseeable future while making them proud.
