Journalist Liam Keen recently slammed Wolves manager Bruno Lage after he confirmed striker Sasa Kalajdzic would be fit for the team’s next game before the news of his ACL injury came to light.

After losing Raul Jimenez to injury and Fabio Silva on loan to Anderlecht for the season, the midlands side needed to bring in a new body at the position and opted for 6′ 7″ Kalajdzic for £15.5m plus add-ons.

Unfortunately for both the team and the striker, the former Stuttgart man came off at half time and it was later revealed he has picked up an ACL injury and therefore will be out for a significant period.

Before the news officially came out, Lage was asked about the fitness of his striker and said his injury was ‘nothing special’. He has now been slammed by Keen after his comments were proven wrong.

Keen told the Express and Star Wolves podcast: “I think if we’re going to be honest, I think we both hold the same opinion here that Bruno had a slight mishap there a slight error because I think he’s just keen to answer the question and give fans some sort of answer. But I don’t think you can say what he said without knowing the full extent really.”

TIF Thoughts on Keen’s comments…

The injury to Kalajdzic is crippling for the Wolves side, they bought him as cover for the team with Jimenez out and Silva on loan and now they have added him to the injury list just days after signing a 5-year contract with the team.

What makes it even worse is that Lage misled the fans on the injury, we can give him the benefit of the doubt that at the time of the injury he didn’t know the extent of the injury but considering he was forced off just after half-time, it was surely obvious something wasn’t right.

It looks like former Chelsea star man Diego Costa is going to sign to fill Kalajdzic’s boots which means they’re now paying another striker who is not guaranteed to perform well. While the season has not started well for Wolves and Lage, it now looks like it isn’t going to get much better any time soon.
