New Wolves star striker, Diego Costa, recently shared a video to Instagram of him performing well in training amid rumours of a lack of fitness for the Spaniard.
The Midlands side had to make a desperate move for another striker after starting man Raul Jimenez struggled to come back from a preseason injury and summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic faces a long time out due to an ACL injury sustained on his debut.
As a result, they have recruited Costa after the former Chelsea man was let go by his former club Atletico Mineiro and was available on a free deal. However, considering he has not played football since the 20/21 season, there have been doubts over his match sharpness.
Luckily for Wolves fans, the man himself recently uploaded a video of him training with the Midlands side and he looked in great form, scoring a headed goal after lifting the ball over the Wolves goalkeeper in classic Costa fashion.
TIF Thoughts on Costa…
Wolves are in desperate need of a striker to bridge the gap until Jimenez and Kalajdzic return, as they have already only scored three goals through their first seven games and are in danger of falling into a relegation battle.
While Costa has been an elite-level striker in the past, it is hard to see how the 33-year-old is going to make a splash in the Premier League and replace someone like Jimenez as he has failed to score double-digit goals in the last four seasons in La Liga and the Brazilian Serie A.
They are going to need Jimenez to get back to his form from just a couple of seasons ago, or they face the potentially devastating relegation battle without a top goalscorer to save them. We could see the worse for Wolves this season.
