Journalist Pete O’Rourke feels West Ham United may still bring in another name at the top end of the pitch before tonight’s transfer deadline.

David Moyes’s side appeared to be closing in on the signing of Jan Bednarek with centre-back Craig Dawson expected to depart however it appears that neither deal will come to fruition.

The Irons have made eight permanent signings this window with the latest coming in the form of a £51m club-record deal for attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

The Brazilian debuted against Tottenham on Wednesday evening as the Irons secured another point to climb to 14th in the table after five games but O’Rourke is of the impression that Moyes could further bolster his ranks in the final third.

Speaking on the Sirius XM radio show on Thursday, he said:

“I still wouldn’t rule out West Ham maybe bringing in an attacking player. If the right player is out there, I think David Moyes would like to add another attacking option to his side.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Will West Ham finish inside the top six?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Insider ExWHUemployee posted on The West Ham Way’s Patreon account to say that he had been told ‘our business both ins and out will go right up to the deadlines’ which suggests that it could be a long day for the officials and executives at Rush Green.

The east Londoners have endured a slow start to their season but with a 33-cap Brazil international in their midst and Italy centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca coming in this window you would expect their fortunes to change.

It will be interesting to see if Moyes feels he requires one more name before the deadline passes and whether their start to the season will heighten his desire for more incomings. But with the clock ticking down towards 11pm, that gets more and more unlikely.
