Journalist Jonty Colman has outlined his concern for West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen after he wasn’t used for England during the most recent international break.

With the 2022 World Cup fast approaching on the horizon, every man in the Three Lions squad would have hoped to have impressed Gareth Southgate over the past couple of games.

However, despite being called into the team, Bowen was not trusted to play a single minute in the loss to Italy or the thrilling 3-3 draw with Germany.

With that in mind, Colman has suggested that this could be bad news for the West Ham winger, as it could well spell the end as far as his hopes of featuring at the World Cup are concerned.

He took to Twitter to say as much, writing: “Appears to be a minute-less call-up for Jarrod Bowen this month. You have to wonder whether or not he will be on the plane to Qatar in November.”

TIF Thoughts on Jarrod Bowen and West Ham…

With four caps to his name, all in 2022, Bowen is at least a known quantity to Southgate, so he didn’t necessarily have to play in these games to prove his quality to the England boss.

Still, he earned those caps off the back of some fine form last season, as he netted 12 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League. This term, however, he has yet to be directly involved in any league goals for the Hammers after seven matches.

With that in mind, the 25-year-old would have hoped to have at least been able to get the chance to impress with England over the recent break. In the end, though, Southgate opted to play others ahead of him, so Colman may well be right in fearing the worst when it comes to his World Cup aspirations.
