ExWHUemployee has said that the West Ham United board are still backing David Moyes despite the poor start to the season.

It’s fair to say, the Hammers have struggled in the Premier League so far. Indeed, they have picked up just one win so far, drawing once too, while losing the other five games.

As a consequence, they sit in the relegation zone. Worryingly, this slow start to the new campaign reflects a major drop-off last term and so they have actually won just twice in their last 14 league outings.

Understandably, amid form as poor as that, doubts may begin to grow into the minds of many West Ham fans about the future of their manager.

However, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex was able to prove that Moyes job is not under threat as of yet although the board are ‘frustrated’ just like everyone else around the club.

He said: “What the story is with Moyes is that I messaged important people at the club that would make the decision on his future, without naming names. And the answer I got back was a categoric that they believe in him.

“I’ll actually use the exact words from someone who would know what the future is. I basically said to him, is it true that the board are having doubts about Moyes and the words I got back were: ‘It’s 100 per cent not the case. What better manager is there to dig you out of a mess? And he has a massive credit in the bank for what is achieved in the last two seasons’.

“I think the board are frustrated. Of course, everyone’s frustrated fans, the players, the manager, the board, with not necessary performances but with results.

“Of course there’s concern. It wouldn’t be natural if there wasn’t concern, having spent all that money and we’re sitting in the relegation zone. But at the moment the board have no intention of dismissing the manager. That has come to me from two people that would be in those board meetings. So they know better than anyone what the situation is.”

TIF thoughts on David Moyes and West Ham…

The fact that the board spent big money when bringing in the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and Thilo Kehrer over the summer will not make the situation any easier for Moyes.

Indeed, this has already drawn criticism in the media for the way the team play beyond the actual lack of results, with Danny Murphy recently stating the club need to be ‘a little bit more adventurous’.

For now, though, it seems as though Moyes will be given a fair amount of time to fix things due to the ‘massive credit in the bank’ he has in the eyes of the board.

Still, football is a fickle game and things may turn sour soon if the manager can’t get the team back to winning ways.
