ExWHUemployee has said that the West Ham United defender Ben Johnson is still a ‘few weeks away’ before he will return from injury.

The right-back has remained completely sidelined ever since he was forced off in the 23rd minute of the Hammers’ only Premier League win of the season.

Indeed, Johnson had to leave the pitch early with an injury during the 1-0 win over Aston Villa and it has remained unclear since as to when exactly he would be fit to return to action.

However, in a new update as mentioned by Ex while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, the insider explained that the defender is still a little while from making his return just yet.

He said: “I asked for an update on Ben Johnson from well-placed sources because I do believe we need to get him back at fullback, right fullback, as soon as possible.

“And I was told he’s a few weeks away.”

TIF thoughts on Ben Johnson and West Ham…

Fortunately, West Ham now have a little time off due to the international break which will allow Johnson some extra moments to get himself back to full fitness.

Even so, if he’s a few weeks away at this stage, he could still miss upcoming games against Wolves and then Anderlecht in Europe which both take place during the first week of October.

That will certainly be a blow for the club with alternative option Vladimir Coufal falling to impress particularly in recent defeats to Chelsea and Everton. No doubt, David Moyes will be hoping Johnson is fit right after the international break and no later.
