Richard Keys has heaped praise on the latest off-field decision West Ham have made by employing Mark Noble as the club’s sporting director.
West Ham announced yesterday that they were bringing back club legend Noble after only a few months away from the Hammers after retiring at the end of last season, but this time as their new sporting director.
While Noble has no experience in such a role, so may well struggle when it comes to the recruitment side of things, what he can bring is knowledge of the club, a great relationship the David Moyes and will subsequently know what kind of players the manager wants both on and off the pitch.
Despite his lack of experience, well-known presenter Keys has heaped praise on West Ham for bringing Noble back to the club as he tweeted out:
‘So pleased to read this today. This guy was one of my favourite players – a ‘proper’ player as Souness would say. This is a great decision West Ham.’

It’s a risky decision from West Ham to bring in someone so inexperienced for a role that is very important in terms of striking up a good relationship with the manager and people both on the board and within the scouting department.
While Noble should be able to pick up his relationship with Moyes straight away, it’s his lack of experience working on the transfer front that may well hinder him and the club moving forward, unless he decides to delegate such a big role to someone else.
However, having Noble back working within the club can surely only be a good thing as the Hammers look to quickly turn around their fortunes this season which has seen them win just once in the Premier League.
