Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte appreciates Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the latest news from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Maddison showcased his talents in north London last weekend, as part of the Leicester side that lost 6-2 at the hands of the Lilywhites, though the 25-year-old did score a fine goal to level the game at 2-2.

Newcastle United were interested in making a move for the Coventry-born midfielder this summer, having made two bids for the former Norwich City star across the transfer window.

Both of these bids were rejected, with the Foxes valuing Maddison at a fee of around £60m.

However, Jones believes that Spurs will try and tempt the midfielder away from Leicester at the end of the season, having decided against tabling a bid during the summer transfer window just gone.

“He’s a great player and he will have a decision to make over his future at the end of this season, I think,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

“Tottenham do like him but they were not given any encouragement that he would be available for anyone to buy, so it was felt they had enough to get by for now.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We believe that Maddison, who has been described as a ‘super talent’, would be an excellent addition for Conte’s side, and would add a level of dynamism to the midfield in the Italian’s squad that isn’t currently there at the moment.

Despite Leicester sitting bottom of the Premier League table at the time of writing, the one-time England international has done his best to single-handedly drive Brendan Rodgers’ side up the table, having scored three goals and provided one assist in six appearances according to Transfermarkt.

Therefore, we think that Spurs may have made a good decision if they are to potentially wait a year in attempt to swoop for Maddison, with the midfielder likely to have just 12 months remaining on his contract come the end of the campaign, meaning that the Foxes star could be available at a cut-price.
