Tottenham Hotspur can put all their focus into getting Harry Kane to sign a new contract now that the summer transfer window has come to a close.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, following the conclusion of the transfer window.

According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Bayern Munich are hoping Kane will hold off on signing a new contract with the north London side, so that the German giants can make a bid for the 29-year-old in 2023.

The England captain’s current contract at Spurs runs until 2024, meaning that the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner could be available at a cut-price next summer.

However, following the closure of the summer transfer window, O’Rourke believes that Spurs can put their transfer focus into getting Kane to sign a new deal at the club, increasing both his value and likelihood of staying at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond next summer.

“Yeah, now the window is closed they can put all the focus on the football and also maybe look at tying down Harry Kane to a new contract.

“Antonio Conte has already spoken about hoping that something can be done to sort out his future.

“Especially when you’ve got the rumours of Bayern Munich waiting in the wings to maybe try and sign him next summer.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

We believe that Spurs fans will be encouraged to hear that the club will put their focus on offering the 73-time England international a new deal, due to the fact that Kane is without a doubt the most important player in Antonio Conte’s system.

The 50-goal England star, who has been dubbed a “monster” by teammate Son Heung-min, has been in stunning form since the Italian manager’s arrival at the club last November, scoring 25 goals and providing nine assists in 43 appearances according to Transfermarkt.

We, therefore, believe that it goes without saying how critical it is that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy are able to secure Kane’s long-term future in north London, and we think that it may take a record-breaking contract to keep the Premier League’s third all-time top-scorer tied down to a new deal.
