Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte was unhappy with the club’s end to their summer window.

Over the course of the summer, Spurs spent big money on bringing in the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence and Ivan Perisic to north London.

However, according to Jones, Conte wanted to get one more player through the door at Hotspur Way before the transfer deadline passed on 1st September.

Indeed, while speaking to GiveMeSport, the insider said: “I mean, he’s happy with the work that was done, but those close to him definitely sense there was some disappointment they couldn’t get one more over the line.”

TIF Thoughts on Antonio Conte and Spurs…

Of course, it’s important to note that Conte was at least ‘happy’ with the deals Spurs did get done. So it’s not like he’s close to quitting over the club’s transfer business – just like he supposedly did at Inter before he came back to the Premier League.

Even so, it’s clear he wanted at least one more player. We may never know just who that was, but there was talk that Daniel James could make the move from Leeds United to the capital, and he did – but the winger joined Fulham on loan instead.

While Conte may not have his ideal squad right now, he’s certainly seen his team’s depth improve over the summer and the results are already clear to see on the pitch, with the club yet to lose in the league so far and sit in third place as a result.

However, this does suggest that the club may be busy once more when January comes around.
