Journalist Dean Jones has expressed his concern after Tottenham Hotspur player Ivan Perisic picked up an injury during his most recent outing.

This week, during the international break, Croatia took on Denmark in UEFA Nations League. Funnily enough, the clash saw two Spurs men in Perisic and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg come up against one another.

However, in a worrying development for Tottenham fans, the two players actually collided during the game, with Hojbjerg leaving Perisic sprawled out on the floor following a tough challenge, moments before he was taken off.

While speaking about the incident on the Chasing Green Arrows podcast as he looks ahead to the next week of Fantasy Premier League, Jones outlined his thoughts on the matter, saying it is ‘not ideal’ as he was hoping the Croatian to have a fruitful run of games for Spurs.

He said: “How annoying is that? It was Hojbjerg, I think, that injured Perisic, wasn’t it? His own teammate has taken him out, that’s not great.

“We are all backing him to have a really, really big time in the few weeks coming back after the international break. So yeah, Ivan Perisic, we will have to wait and see what the extent of that is, but it’s not ideal is it, Hojbjerg injuring Perisic.”

TIF Thoughts on Ivan Perisic and Spurs…

With a north London derby away from home against Arsenal next up for Spurs, there will be plenty worried about the fitness of Perisic. Following the incident, the player made an Instagram post that had no reference to any issues, so that may well be a positive sign for Tottenham.

In the Premier League so far, the Croatian averages a SofaScore match rating of 6.96 across seven outings – though only four those have been starts, providing three assists for his teammates in that time.

With Spurs facing an upcoming run of 13 games in 43 days, Antonio Conte will face a big test in successfully navigating this period and will want everyone available. With that in mind, he may also be concerned by this latest situation and will certainly be cursing his luck if Hojbjerg was indeed the cause of any potential layoff for Perisic.
