Journalist Dan Kilpatrick noted Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane was left ‘bemused’ after an incident in the club’s most recent game.

While Spurs eventually managed to win their first game in the competition’s group stages of the Champions League this season, it wasn’t the most comfortable display.

Indeed, the pivotal moment in the 2-0 victory came when Chancel Mbemba picked up a red card for Marseille early on in the second half.

Up to that stage, it had been a frustrating game for Tottenham and even up until the 57th minute of the game, things didn’t really seem to be clicking for the home side.

Indeed, in the live blog for the Evening Standard Kilpatrick explained how Spurs offered little and even spotted Kane grow baffled when Eric Bailly won a dubious call further disrupting the team’s momentum.

He wrote: “Beyond a shot dragged wide from Son, there’s been very little from Spurs with the extra man.

“Frustrations grow when Bailly throws himself to the floor and somehow gets the decision – Kane looks completely bemused.”

In the end, Tottenham got the breakthrough in the 76th minute as Brazilian forward Richarlison netted twice in the final stages of the game to seal the win.

Up until that stage, despite having the man advantage, Antonio Conte’s men did seem to struggle – as suggested by Kilpatrick and his live blog comments.

According to SofaScore’s stats, Kane gave the ball away 17 times (which was the joint-most in his team). He also failed to hit the target with any of his three shots at goal – proving he wasn’t at his best on the night either.
