Dean Jones has claimed that Ryan Sessegnon could be in line to start for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Ivan Perisic this weekend after some information he was told coming from the training ground.

After a strong start to the season – going undefeated in their first five Premier League games, sitting third as a result – Spurs will hope to continue this run of form over the weekend.

Indeed, just a matter of days after drawing with West Ham United, Antonio Conte’s men will now host London rivals Fulham at home.

With the fixtures coming thick and fast, though, rotation may be needed at Tottenham and Jones has claimed that Sessegnon could be in line for a start after being notably ‘involved’ during an ‘in-house game’ during training this week.
While speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows podcast, he explained: “I know that Sessegnon is obviously chomping at the bit to start this game.
“I know that there was someone I know was watching some of the pattern of play. And Sessegnon was the guy involved, but he said he wasn’t 100 per cent convinced that that was the lineup.
“Because there were two other people in that team, which did look the strongest side of the Tottenham in-house game that was going on.
“And yeah, it looks like Sessegnon was playing.”

TIF thoughts on Ryan Sessegnon and Spurs…

So far this season, Sessegnon has started two league games but has been on the bench for the past three outings, and didn’t even feature against West Ham.

In his place, Ivan Perisic has been the man trusted instead and with two assists in just 275 minutes of game time at Tottenham, it seems as though the Croatian is settling in well to life in England.

However, at 33 years of age, he may not quite have the stamina to start so many games in quick succession and so Conte may need to rotate. With that in mind, there is a chance we could see Sessegnon start against Fulham. And after this behind-scenes update from Jones, that could well be what has been planned in training.
