Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has slammed Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison for his display in their most recent game.

Spurs took on Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their Premier League match this weekend in a match that was full of goals but ended 6-2 in favour of the home side.

Youri Tielemans opened the scoring from the penalty spot, but Harry Kane managed to level things just two minutes later. Tottenham then to the lead through Eric Dier’s head before James Maddison fitted one in for the Foxes to make it 2-2 at the break.

In the second 45, however, Spurs blew away their opposition as they scored four unanswered goals, three of which came from substitute Son Heung-min.

Despite all the excitement, one player stood out for all the wrong reasons with his display. Indeed, in the player ratings for the Evening Standard, Richarlison was handed a score of 5/10 by Kinsella.

The journalist also wrote: “Richarlison’s pace and dogged pressing won a corner in the 21st minute. However, he rarely threatened the goal and gave the ball away on several occasions. Ultimately substituted for Son.”

TIF thoughts on Richarlison and Spurs…

This claim is certainly backed up by his stats on SofaScore too. According to their information, the Brazilian managed no shots, was accurate with just 75 per cent of his passing, won only three out of seven ground duels, and lost possession 11 times. Most damning of all, though, was that he had fewer touches (31) than goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (51).

With two goals and two assists in his Spurs career early on, Richarlison has certainly shown plenty of promising signs so far in a Spurs shirt. Still, this match was a step back for him.

Regardless of his efforts though, after that win, Tottenham are now up to second in the league (though Arsenal are yet to play at time of writing) having picked up 17 points in their first seven games.
