Alasdair Gold has revealed on his YouTube channel that some Tottenham Hotspur players had the fear after their Champions League loss.

It was a slightly embarrassing and disappointing loss for Spurs midweek as they collapsed late on away to Sporting Lisbon conceding twice in second half added time which saw them lose control of their Champions League group.

Despite a late flight back from Portugal that

night, Conte had his players back in training the very next day as they prepared for their Premier League game this weekend, although according to Gold, some players feared they would be in training very early on Wednesday morning.

Gold has claimed that several Spurs players shared this fear about Wednesday’s training session.

(30:55) “That flight from my understanding was near silent, they’re not going to be standing up doing the conga up and down the plane, of course they’re not they lost the game, but there was a real feeling of we messed up kind of thing and no one had barely even like a hushed wisp in the background it was just all on there.

“Some of them may well have been asleep, they obviously went off straight after the game and they went back and I know I think there was a bit of a fear among some of the players that he would drag them into very early training the next day because they were staying over at the lodge when they flew back presumably into Stansted and staying at the lodge overnight, and he didn’t.

Will Spurs beat Leicester?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“He started training at 11 am the next day on the Wednesday, there are suggestions that normally after European games he does afternoon training lets them have the morning off, so perhaps that was the punishment, no, you’re starting at 11 kind of thing.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ situation…

There’s no doubt whatsoever that Antonio Conte will have been drilling the Tottenham players very hard this week in training and telling them that what happened midweek can’t happen again this weekend.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

This is mainly because they are playing bottom of the league Leicester City and potentially, a win on Saturday could well see Spurs jump to the top of the league heading into the international break, so it would be a huge missed opportunity.

Considering that Conte was said to be absolutely fuming after the game on Tuesday night according to Gold, it’s no wonder that players were expecting to be handed a cruel punishment on Wednesday by being in training early morning, although Conte appears to have let them off rather lightly this time around.
