Tottenham Hotspur will make moves in the January window, with a few of their players potentially departing and needing to be replaced.
This has been suggested by the reliable Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking about the upcoming winter window on his latest YouTube video.
Spurs were certainly active in the summer, with seven new arrivals and a number of unwanted players offloaded, but there is still a feeling there are players left who could’ve been moved on.
Two of those players were Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga, who were both heavily linked with potential moves away from north London over the course of the window.
And neither player has really featured in the early stages of the new campaign, which has Gold expecting departures of players – who will need to be replaced.
He said: “The likes of Gil, Tanganga – maybe they head off on loan. Maybe Pape Matar Sarr, maybe they plan to do that then as well, so give him a bit of loan time.
“And I think those players then have to be replaced. So I think there’ll be movement in January, because I think there kind of has to, and I think Conte will want it as well.
“I know it’s the more difficult market, the winter window, but I think he’ll want more, the way he’s been talking about it, it’s a multi-window process. So I think that will happen.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
With so many games to contend with this season, we would certainly expect Antonio Conte to demand those players who are potentially sold to be replaced.
Do Spurs need to be busy this January?
Yes
No
As mentioned, neither Gil nor Tanganga have really been used this season, however, if injuries are to ramp up over the coming months, they could quickly climb the pecking order.
And injuries are potentially the biggest concern this season with so many games in a packed schedule, so there could be the possibility of injuries actually preventing these players from being able to leave N17. Therefore, if this is the plan, it may be wise for Conte and co to assess the situation nearer the time.
