According to injury specialist Ben Dinnery, Tottenham Hotspur ace, Rodrigo Bentancur, will be able to play this weekend after suffering a concussion if he clears the protocols in time.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been a key player for Antonio Conte’s side since he joined in January 2021 and having him back in time for their game this weekend is going to be massively important for the team.

Bentancur picked up the head injury during their 2-0 victory over Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest and as a result he missed their 1-1 draw with West Ham United mid-week completely.

However, the good news for Spurs fans is that Dinnery recently claimed their star man could make a return to the match-day squad in time for their game against Fulham on Saturday if he clears the protocols needed when it comes to these types of injuries.

He said the Premier FPL Injuries show, “[Rodrigo] Bentancur, he picked up a knock at Nottingham Forest at the City Ground that’s concussion. Now providing he goes through that protocol and clears out fine, he will be in contention, no problems there”. (9:34)

TIF Thoughts on Bentancur…

So far this season Bentancur has played in four of the Premier League games for a total of 345 minutes, averaging 86.25 minutes per game. This shows that he is a massively important player on the side and they will want to see him back as soon as possible.

He brings a physical and strong defensive balance to their midfield as he currently ranks in the 85th percentile for pressures, 76th for blocks, and 73rd for tackles compared to other midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues (Fbref).

His impact was also highlighted during their 1-1 draw with the Hammers as his replacement, Yves Bissouma, struggled throughout the game and ultimately Spurs were fortunate in the end to come away with just a point. This has proved bringing Bentancur is vital if they are to continue challenging in the top four and potentially for the Premier League title as well.
