Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is open to the idea of opening discussions over a potential new deal in north London.

This has been suggested by Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the latest surrounding Spurs amid the international break.

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the north London club is the future of their Italian manager, with former side Juventus believed to be showing an interest in his services.

Conte has not been at the club for 12 months yet and there is already a focus on his contract situation, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Despite the speculation surrounding the 53-year-old’s future with the Lilywhites, Gold has hinted the Spurs manager could still look to put pen to paper on a new deal.

He said: “There’s suggestions from people around him that he’d actually be more than inclined to have a chat and discussion about a new contract if that were to come up.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

This will be music to the ears of most Spurs fans who may be fearing the worst as a result of the recent links to Juventus over the last week or so.

However, we do still feel the Italian holds the power in this situation, with Conte squeezing a large amount of cash out of the Spurs ownership in the summer amid his cryptic messages over his future.

Having delivered Champions League football and a positive start to this campaign, there will likely be every hope to keep Conte in north London and we think extending his deal would be massive for Spurs’ long-term prospects.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see if Conte issues further public demands to the Spurs board ahead of the upcoming windows as his contract continues to run down to its final months.
