Presenter Chris Hamill has expressed his excitement over possible Southampton deadline day signing Maxence Lacroix.
According to trusted transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Saints are in talks to sign the 21-year-old Wolfsburg centre-back – though a deal will not be easy to complete.
The Italian journalist also names Duje Caleta-Car as another option on their wishlist – showing just how ambitious Southampton are in the final hours of the market.
In reaction to this news, Hamill took to Twitter to outline just how impressed he was by the rumours, hailing Southampton for ‘doing bits’ across the summer:

It seems as if Romano also agrees this would be a great move for Southampton, as he claimed it ‘could be a huge one’ on his initial tweet revealing the information.
In an article for the Bundesliga website, Lacroix is described as being Wolfsburg’s defensive rock. It explains that the dominant defender – standing at 6ft 3in and weighing 88kg – has the ‘physique to handle everything’ top-flight football can throw at him.
This certainly would bode well if he ends up at Southampton in the Premier League. And with young talents such as Gavin Bazunu, Sekou Mara, Romeo Lavia and Armel Bella-Kotchap already arriving this summer, it’s easy to see why Hamill feels as though the club are ‘doing bits’ in this window.
