Journalist Robert Warlow has praised Southampton youngster Dom Ballard after he scored while on international duty this week.

While recently playing for the England U18 team in the current international break, the 17-year-old scored twice in a tight 2-1 win over the Faroe Islands.

Indeed, Ballard netted once in the first half after just eight minutes and then again in the 87th minute to win the match for his country in dramatic fashion.

This performance was evidently enough to catch the eye, with journalist Warlow taking to Twitter to express just how excited he was about the teenager.

Indeed, he wrote: “It has been said before, but remember the name…”

TIF Thoughts on Dom Ballard and Southampton…

It really does seem as though the youngster’s stock is on the rise. Indeed, back in April, he signed his first professional contract with Southampton, showing that the club recognise his potential, too.

This season, the 17-year-old has mostly had to settle for games in the Saints’ youth setup – scoring an impressive five goals in five games in Premier League 2.

However, he does have one senior appearance for the club, and scored on his debut in a 3-0 EFL Cup win over Cambridge United.

All in all, it really does look as though Ballard is one to keep an eye on as his fine form continues.
