Newcastle United may consider spending big money on Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine international Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January transfer window.
That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from St. James’ Park.
According to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are one of a number of clubs that are tracking Mudryk’s progress, with the player hoping for a move away from the Ukrainian club in January.
The same journalist goes on to say that Shakhtar have put a £43.6m valuation on the 21-year-old, which has put off a number of clubs off the six-time Ukraine international.
And O’Rourke believes that Newcastle may be prepared to spend big money in January, if the club are seriously interested in adding Mudryk to their squad.
“I think if they want the right players, they showed they will put their hand in their pocket when they went and signed the [Alexander] Isak in a club record deal.
“So, if they really want Mudryk, it’s something that they might consider, but they’ve obviously got fierce competition for his signature from the likes of Arsenal and other European clubs if he does become available in January.”

We believe that Mudryk, who has been dubbed as ‘unstoppable’, would be a fantastic addition to Eddie Howe’s side, and would improve the club’s already impressive array of attacking options.
The Shakhtar star has scored two goals and provided three assists in five appearances according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that if he could transfer this form to the Premier League, he would be an exceptional addition to the Magpies side.
Having shelved out around £60m for Isak this summer, we agree with O’Rourke and believe that if the club desire to add a player to the squad, they will have no problem spending a large outlay if needs be.
