Newcastle United fans will be “excited” at the prospect of a front three of Allan Saint-Maximin, Alexander Isak, and Callum Wilson.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from St. James’ Park, following the club’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last weekend.

Both Saint-Maximin and Wilson were absent from the visit of the Cherries last weekend, with latter having been ruled out since the club’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City in August, whilst the former’s last appearance was in a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers the following week.

Meanwhile, Isak has impressed since making the move to St. James’ Park for approximately £60m, scoring two goals in three Premier League appearances so far, according to Transfermarkt.

And Jones believes that Magpies fans have a lot to look forward to with the return of Saint-Maximin and Wilson to their attacking front line.

“I think a front three of Isak, Saint-Maximin, and Wilson will be exciting so that is something for fans to look forward to.

“There’s no doubt they look a bit blunt at the moment with those two out.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We agree with Jones and believe that Newcastle’s front line looks a little off the pace without two of their main attacking talents in Saint-Maximin and Wilson.

We think that should both players have the chance to play in an attacking trio with Isak, then Eddie Howe could have quite some front line on his hands.

We therefore think that Howe will have the medical team working over-time to get his squad to up to full fitness following the international break.
