Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has hinted at a potential return from his hamstring injury with a recent Instagram post.

The 24-year-old has added a post to his Instagram account, demonstrating his pride at being given another chance to represent his country.

The former Lyon man has been a huge success since joining Newcastle from the French club in a £35m move in January, having scored five goals and provided one assist in 21 appearances for Eddie Howe’s side, according to Transfermarkt.

His arrival on Tyneside has also coincided with a sharp uptake in form for the Magpies, with the club ranking fifth in the Premier League form table since the beginning of 2022.

And the midfielder’s performances have now earned him another call-up to the national team and the Brazilian has taken to Instagram to hint at returning from injury to play for Brazil in the upcoming international fixtures.

“Back then I dreamed of living everything I’m living today,” he said in a translation of his post.

“I never looked for a shortcut to achieving my dreams.

“I never skip work, I’ve never stopped trying.

“Being able to represent my country has always been present in my dreams.

“I am thankful for another call up, let’s go together for another chance to live my dream.”

TIF Thoughts on Guimaraes’ post

We believe that eight-time Brazil midfielder has earned his chance to represent his country again, and his quality of performances in the Premier League will only increase his chances of being a regular fixture in the national team squad.

Guimaraes will also be desperate to prove himself in the team’s friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia and make himself a certainty for Tite’s 2022 Qatar World Cup squad for November.

However, he has been out of action for a number of games now having sustained a hamstring injury which has seen him miss the last three games.

After being undoubtedly the star of Newcastle’s current side, we believe that the news of the midfield maestro’s international call-up will be a positive boost for Howe, with the call-up suggesting that Guimaraes is close to returning to full fitness for the Magpies.

And now with this weekend’s fixtures having been postponed, it will potentially give the Brazilian another few days to recover ahead of their next scheduled game against Bournemouth.
