Journalist Chris Waugh noted that Joe Willock was furious with Fabian Schar after he took a poor shot in the recent Newcastle United game.

Despite the fact that they spent a lot of money over the summer, and have lost just once in the Premier League this season, things aren’t going perfectly for Eddie Howe and co.

Indeed, this was summed up in their most recent league match, a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in a frustrating home game at St James’ Park.

One moment in this game seemed to highlight the angst on the day as well when Waugh spotted Willock coming across as rather angry after Schar took a wild swing at goal from about 25 yards.

The journalist wrote on Twitter: “Willock doesn’t appear particularly pleased at Schar after the #NUFC defender wildly hits a shot from 25 yards well wide. A few players have been guilty of that, including Willock himself…”

TIF thoughts on Newcastle and the game…

According to the stats on SofaScore, Schar had two shots at goal but only hit the target with one, while Willock failed to work the goalkeeper with either of his efforts – and so it’s safe to say both left their shooting boots at home.

In fairness to the Newcastle defender, he does at least have previous when it comes to scoring long-distance screamers. Indeed, against Nottingham Forest earlier on this season, Schar hit the back of the next with a ‘moment of magic’ produced from 30 yards out.

Evidently, though, no such trick could be repeated on the day and this seemed to leave Willock in particular pretty exasperated with his Newcastle teammate as the club were left to settle for their fifth draw in seven games.
